Is Our Program Worth the Price?

Why does our course cost more than others? It’s a question we love to answer because there’s a lot of value packed into our program that makes it worth every penny.

Let's break it down for you.

Quality you won’t find elsewhere

When you choose our program at arol.dev, you're investing in one of the highest quality tech education experiences available in Europe. If you're simply looking for a quick intro to tech for roles like sales or project management, other typical bootcamps might be enough. If your goal is to gain deep, practical knowledge that will enable you to actually work as a developer in a top company or even build your own products, then the other options are not a great choice.

We have a friend who went to a bootcamp here in Barcelona and wrote an article about her experience. She was going for product management and didn't intend to code much. She gives a pretty good breakdown of the pros and cons of other bootcamps: My experience with a coding bootcamp.

Personalized for your goals

Unlike many programs that offer a cookie cutter curriculum (making it exactly the same for each student), we tailor our teaching to your background and goals. We don’t teach the same things to someone with experience vs a person transitioning from an unrelated field. We mentor you and guide you based on your specific needs and where you want to go.

Smaller groups, more learning

Our commitment to personalized attention can be seen in our small group sizes. With a student-to-teacher ratio maxed at 5:1, you get much more time and attention from instructors and mentors to help you succeed. In some other programs the ratio can be as high as 20:1 or even 30:1.

Develop the skills that companies want in an ideal candidate

Technical skills alone won’t get you far in today’s job market. We assess and work on 34 crucial traits, including communication, adaptability, proactivity, and feedback management. We have a specific methodology to identify and develop your most valuable soft skills to make you the well-rounded professional that companies are looking for.

Instructors who give real advice

You’ll be learning directly from industry experts like Arol Viñolas, who brings over 20 years of experience, including roles as an Engineering Manager at Typeform and CTO at several companies. Other instructors come from companies like Apple, Ubisoft, and Oracle, to give you useful insights on what it’s like to work as a software engineer.

More like a real job than just a classroom

In our program, it’s not just a normal classroom, we replicate a real tech team environment. You’ll gain hands-on experience:

  • Working in sprints

  • Creating user stories

  • Using agile methodology

  • Working in remote-first teams

  • Collaborating with actual senior engineers, product managers, and designers

This allows our students to be ready for the realities of the tech world. This creates a much more complete learning experience than other programs where it just feels like school and not an actual job.

A future-proof curriculum

We don’t just teach you one JavaScript and then throw you into the tech industry. We dive deep into the fundamentals of software engineering so you can gain the skills to easily pick up other languages and tools (for example many people end up working with Python after the program).

Our curriculum covers topics that others don’t like:

  • Testing

  • DevOps

  • Data Structures

  • Software Architecture

  • Typescript

  • Git/Github

  • Amazon Web Services

  • Deployment

  • CI/CD

  • ORMs

  • Cloud Fundamentals

We know what tech corporations want because we train them

We train dev teams at organizations like the United Nations, Hotjar, and Seidor. These companies trust us because of that quality we provide. This gives us the opportunity to bring back cutting-edge content and best practices to our students.

We know what issues these companies are facing and what kind of solutions and developers they need. We’re well connected to the industry, so that our training is always relevant and up-to-date.

We take responsibility for your career

Our admissions process isn’t easy to get through and that’s on purpose to make sure those who make it through are at the right level and fully dedicated and committed to the program. But once you’re in arol.dev, we take full responsibility for your success. We’ll be by your side, working closely to help you find a job and reach your goal. Even after that, we still offer FREE lifelong career support and mentorship.

Our 94% job placement rate and 0% drop out rate speak for themselves. We don't have people who ghost us after the program because we connected to all of them (with regular catch ups with a mentor), and except for specific cases when a person has personal limitations, all our graduates got a tech related job.

There’s a big difference between this and typical bootcamps that include non-developer roles like sales, support, and marketing in their placement numbers so they can have better percentages.

A community that sticks together

We have a very strong and close-knit alumni network. You’ll join a community that you can come for anything, whether it’s looking for advice, job opportunities, collaboration or even just to hang out and get sushi. Our recent alumni meetup saw an 85% attendance rate with people joining us on campus in Barcelona or connecting in from around the world in places like the UK, Argentina, Germany, the US, Thailand, Portugal, Sweden, and more.

This community is a great place for networking opportunities. Plus, we connect you with our external connections like headhunters, senior engineers, or collaborators. It can open many doors for you when job hunting.

We actually like each other

Our program is very intense and you’ll spend a lot of hours with us (online or in person) So it’s really important to us that we create a healthy and fun work environment and student life. We want our students to feel at home from day one.

arol.dev students can enjoy our campus facilities, access exclusive events, get a great welcome pack, play games on discord, and be a part of other activities.

Plus, we genuinely like each other. We spend a lot of time in the office but we also go out for dinners, hikes, movie nights, paddleboarding, go to football matches, and even some comedy shows.

Basically, the value we provide far exceeds the price. Just like one of our graduates pointed out on a Reddit thread, each day she realized that the knowledge and skills gained from our program set her apart in the industry.

So, is our program worth it? That depends on your specific needs, but if you're looking to become a software engineer, absolutely.
